Star of the Week

Our Star of the Week in Class 4 is Olivia

for working so well as part of a team during maths

and for her continued focus in all areas of the curriculum.

Well done Olivia, we’re really proud of you!

Summer Term in Class 4

Our exciting new topic is the Vicious Vikings.  We will be learning about what life was like for these fierce warriors; living in longhouses and travelling using longboats.  Children in Class 4 have already started to make their own longboat as part of their homework.  We will immerse ourselves in the wonderful mythical creatures that appeared in these stories.

Our Maths and Literary work will of course involve revising for the SATs tests but will also involve writing newspaper reports, poetry, instructions and stories.  Many of our Literacy activities will involve finding out more about the Vikings and their Norse mythology.

After the SATs tests our class will discover how fun Science lessons can be.  We will be planning and carrying out lots of Science experiments.  Be prepared to get messy and discover how to make slime!

Looking towards the end of term, we will be preparing to say goodbye to our Year 6 children with our leavers' assembly.   Sports day and the end of year show will keep our Class busy too.

All children are expected to read at home no less than three times per week, with an adult signing their diary.  Two Dojo points will be awarded to those children who read five times a week.  Three Dojo points will be given to those who read seven times a week.  One Dojo will be given to those who practise a times tables in their diary.  Spellings need to be practised, in their diary, ready for a weekly test - these will take place on a Monday.  Speed square tests are completed on Fridays.

P.E. Mondays and Fridays

Please make sure you have the correct kit at school ready for our lessons each week.

You will need both indoor and outdoor kit.

Hey Diddle Diddlelearn the median, mean, mode and range.

Hey diddle diddle, the median's the middle,

You add and divide for the mean,

The mode is the one that you see the most

and the range is the difference between.

We've learnt a song to help us remember the median, mean, mode and range.
