Welcome to Class 4
Welcome to Class 4.
Here you will find out about this weeks homework tasks, information about what we are learning about in class, as well as photographs of us enjoying our time at school.
All children are expected to read at home no less than three times per week, with an adult signing their diary. Two Dojo points will be awarded to those children who read five times a week. Three Dojo points will be given to those who read seven times a week. One Dojo will be given to those who practise a times tables in their diary. Spellings need to be practised, in their diary, ready for a weekly test - these will take place on a Monday. Speed square tests are completed on Fridays.
What we are learning this term
Happy new year. This term Class 4 will be learning about where Rainforests, such as the Amazon, are in the world. We will look into land use, the products we get from the forests, endangered species, deforestation much more. Our art work will be linked to this topic.
In literacy we will cover a range of texts including poetry, instructional writing, persuasive and report writing.
Maths this term begins with work on fraction, decimals and problem solving.
Our Reading Champions chart will begin again with a prize at the end of the term for those children that reach the top.
We are of course really excited about the residentials to both France and Dearne Valley in March
Star of the Week
Our Star of the Week in Class 4 is Charlie
for super contribution in literacy lessons for Mr Marsh.
Congratulations and well done Charlie!
Homework to be completed by Wednesday 21st March
Year 6 - homework from now on is your CGP books, a little bit a week please. I would like to see what you are doing, so feel free to bring in as you complete it.
Year 5 - The theme is water. The children had an assembly on this recently. There are many angles you can approach this from.
As always, have fun.
P.E. Mondays and Fridays
Please make sure you have the correct kit at school ready for our lessons each week.
You will need both indoor and outdoor kit at this time of year.
World Book Day 2017
Class 4 thoroughly enjoyed dressing up to celebrate World Book Day. After our whole school assembly, we completed activities and shared our love of books.
Hey Diddle Diddle - learn the median, mean, mode and range.
Hey diddle diddle, the median's the middle,
You add and divide for the mean,
The mode is the one that you see the most
and the range is the difference between.
