We have been reading the Gruffalo for the past two weeks. We enjoyed making Gruffalo crumble, Gruffalo jigsaws and look at our fabulous paintings.

We have read books about dragons linked to the Chinese New Year! We grew our own dragon and after reading 'The Dragon Machine' we decided to build a large dragon so that our dragon could fly back home to dragon land.

We created a passport for our snow dragon and wrote a report to help find him when he went missing.

We have learned about Divali and read the Indian story, 'The Tiger Child' by Joanna Troughton and learned a simple version. The pictures below show us retelling the story through small world resources and creating Henna hands. We have learned about symmetry through Rangoli patterns and looked at the clothes which Hindu's wear.

We have listened to a story about Hovis the hedgehog in literacy. Hovis had to move from his home when he realised it was going to be lit on bonfire night. We used the small world tray to retell the story and learned about bonfire safety. Some children made a poster warning people to check their bonfires firchedgehogs before lighting them. Everyone made a hedgehog from modelling clay and twigs. Once the hedgehogs were made they built them a little home to hibernate it. We felt ice with and with out a layer of fat to find out why hibernating animals eat lots before the winter.
