In Literacy we have explored all types of poetry including kennings, nonsense poems, tongue twisters and riddles. Inspired by this we made our own poetry based around the theme of fireworks. We tried to make sure to use many different poetic devices such as onomatopoeias, repetition, alliteration, rhythm and rhyming. We are very proud of what we made, some of our poems are displayed below.
In guided reading we have been studying the book 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman. In this lesson we discussed the difference between thoughts and feelings. We then looked at what certain characters within key points of the book might be thinking or feeling. Then we created freeze frames based off of these key points and, in character, told the rest of the class what we were thinking and feeling.
