  • School Update 14.5.20

Thu 14 May 2020 Helen Roberts

    Dear Parent/Carers,

I hope you are all continuing to keep well and stay safe.

Following a virtual meeting with over 41 Headteachers from across Bassetlaw and Nottinghamshire, I am now able to add a small amount of new information to the update I posted earlier this week. This is guidance from the local authority.and the advice that I have been given.

I have been asked to remind you that, we are receiving a lot of this information at the same time as the public. Most of it is extremely complicated and is taking time to unpick and understand.

At this current time, the Governing Body and myself, are waiting to receive more guidance as to how the proposed opening of our school to Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 will work. The local authority is devising new guidance to answer many of the questions leaders and teachers are posing. With this guidance, will come a county standard risk assessment form that we will complete, identifying all the risks that will be present if school is to open. I will update you again,, once these documents are received..

I have asked the staff to send you a few questions that I really would like you to answer if you can please? If you could possibly reply either way, it would give us more understanding of your thoughts moving forward. I am also offering you the opportunity to take part in a Zoom meeting with myself and the Chair of Governors. I will aim to answer any questions you pose, although I repeat, I am still awaiting guidance and answers myself. It would however, be an opportunity for you to voice your concerns or opinions and have your voice heard which I think is vital at this time.

As I have stated in earlier updates, the staff team and myself are extremely grateful for all the hard work you and the children are doing everyday. I know that they are in touch with you regularly and relay this all the time, but they also pass this to me too and as a team, we feel immensely proud to be a part of Rampton Primary School.

Take care, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all soon.

    Kindest regards

    Helen Roberts

    Headteacher.

  • School Closure update 11.5.2020

Mon 11 May 2020 Helen Roberts

    Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this finds you all keeping well and staying safe during this difficult time.

May I start by thanking you all for your continued support for your child's education and wellbeing. I have witnessed some truly remarkable pieces of work completed by our children, from super solar systems to rosette rainbows. I have been blown away by the creativity and sheer talents displayed which obviously could not have been achieved without your support and encouragement, so thank you for that.

This update follows the announcement made by the Prime Minister last night that schools 'may' be opening for pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 from 1 June and I am certain that many of you have spent the day wondering and possibly worrying about what exactly will happen next. Please be aware that the teaching fraternity are notified of these decisions at the same time as the public and therefore formulating a response can take time. I therefore thank you for your patience and understanding at this time. I know at this point that I will not be in a position to answer all the questions you may have or concerns that may be building and I find that incredibly frustrating. I would like nothing more than to have all the answers and be able to reassure you that your child will be safe to return to school at the appropriate time. The health and safety of our children and staff will always be my main priority.

At this moment, I am waiting to receive more information from the Government and Nottinghamshire County Council as to what these new pieces of information mean to our pupils and our school. I will of course, provide more information as soon as I can in the coming days and weeks.

The provision to support emergency childcare issues, remains available at Tuxford Academy. Please do not hesitate to email me should this need arise. (head@rampton.notts.sch.uk)

Should you wish to discuss this with me further, please do not hesitate to contact me via my email address, Head@rampton.notts.sch.uk and I will be happy to arrange a time to talk.

Please take care and stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all soon.

    Best wishes,

    Helen Roberts

    Headteacher
