Meet the Governors
Welcome to our Governors Section.
Please find below details of how our Governing body is structured, including the names, categories, responsibilities and terms of appointment for each Governor.
We have also provided a Register of Governor Interests and an Annual Statement of Issues for your information.
All schools have a governing body which is composed of people that fit the governing bodies skills audit to provide a wide ranging skill set that best aids the school and its development. We have just carried out a statutory re-constitution and our governing body is made up of the following groups :
1) 4 parents
2) One elected Staff Member
3) Three Co-opted members
4) The Headteacher.
5) One Associate Governor.
Working together, governors support the school, particularly in making key decisions about its overall vision for children’s education. As a group, we never lose sight of the school’s most important people: the children. We want the best for them trying always to keep what will improve their future life chances at the front of our thinking.
The purpose of having a governing body is to:
- help the school to set high standards by planning for the school's future and setting targets for school improvement
- keep the pressure up on school improvement
- be a critical friend to the school, offering support and advice
- help the school respond to the needs of parents and the community
- make the school accountable to the public for what it does
- work with the school on planning, developing policies and keeping the school under review
- exercise its responsibilities and powers in partnership with the head teacher and staff
- not to intervene in the day-to-day management of the school unless there are weaknesses in the school, when it then has a duty to take action.
The work of the governing body is shaped by three committees:
- The Full Governing Body meeting, which is held each term, is the most formal of our meetings. The Chairs of Governors, chairs these meetings.
- The Strategic Development and Pupils Committee, whose work helps to shape the school’s overall vision and its goals for improvement, also supports all aspects of curriculum policy.
- The Finance, General Purpose and Personnel Committee oversees the school’s budget with a focus on getting value for money for the services provided for pupils and also oversees matters of health, safety and welfare.
Individual governors have specific links with areas of the school’s work and its priorities for improvement, see below Governor Responsibilities.
