Art at Rampton
At Rampton Primary School, Art is taught alongside class projects with cross-curricular links wherever possible. Lessons are immersive and fun, and children are encouraged to take ownership of their sketchbooks and use them as a working document, showing practise and progression of skills. There are opportunities for children to get involved in 'Artist of the term' which is a whole school initiative which introduces children to various artists and illustrators and encourages children to create work based on their style, or to create work inspired by them. There is a competitive element to this too, and children are able to win prizes.
We have a creative board in the KS2 corridor which showcases work throughout school, clearly showing the progression of skills from EYFS to KS2.
Children had the chance to enter a competition to create the illustration on our reading book vending machine. This was a great link between art and reading and lots of children entered with some great ideas. The winning entry is now on the vending machine for all to see.
